The Big Move: From Home Studio to Business Studio

PHOTOGRAPHY July 20, 2020

I feel, I always have a way of picking unbelievable timing on things. A while back, way before Coronavirus, I decided it was time to accomplish my dream of having a studio. The opportunity presented itself to me at the end of 2019 and was in full swing by January 2020. It was set, the space would be completed and I could open July 2020. Well, the Rona hit in March. Would we be open by June? My daughter was out of school, would she be going back for those last few months, so I could help complete and set up my studio. I know now the answer was no, but I was hopeful lol. Well, what I ended up with, is spending a lot of time with my daughter, becoming a teacher and her bestie, because that was all she had. Trying to tell a 6 year-old that she can’t see her friends or go to the beach because of Corona is impossible. She understands but doesn’t understand. She has been a true sport about it, so I have no complaints.

As June approached, the studio would definitely be open June 1st. Me, my hubby and my daughter, hustled the last week before we opened, to get everything complete. It wasn’t perfect but I finally had my studio, the one I had dreamed about for 5 years. Most know, I am also in law enforcement and was unexpectedly, sent to Atlanta to help with the protests and riots for a few weeks in a row. An eye opening experience for me in my 15th year of law enforcement. I spent my 40th birthday driving home from Atlanta, to work a homicide in Valdosta. Needless to say, it wasn’t how I expected to begin my 40s but it was memorable.

I have been going back and forth in my head on when to start taking sessions again. I started booking sessions again, the beginning of this month and I will official start sessions back next weekend. I am so ready to throw myself back into making memories for clients. I cant wait to get into my new studio space and start shooting.

I can’t believe in a few days, it will be August. Soon, fall sessions will start, along with Christmas session. Make sure you book your holiday sessions in advance. The holidays will be here before you know it, they have a way of sneaking up on all of us.
